Educational Opportunities
          Hamlet students in grades K-8 attend schools located within the city limits; Fairview Heights - grades K-5, Monroe Avenue - grades K-5 and Hamlet Middle School - grades 6-8. The Richmond County Ninth Grade Academy is located on County Home Road in Hamlet. High school students attend Richmond Senior High School, a consolidated county high school located five miles west of Hamlet.

          Richmond Senior High is a model for the state in consolidated high schools. A wide variety of courses are offered to the student body, from precollege to vocational. The TechPrep Program is a new concept for students to plan furthering their education at 2-year community colleges.

          Richmond Community College’s mission is to offer educational opportunities, cultural enrichment, and workforce development and training that will enhance the quality of students’ lives and support economic development in Richmond and Scotland counties. Established in 1964 and located in Hamlet, RCC serves approximately 10,000 students, with about 30 percent enrolled in curriculum programs and nearly 70 percent in workforce development programs. The College offers over 60 degrees, diplomas and certificates, along with college readiness courses, online classes and adult education services.
